Costume und Make-up Design were guided either by Orwell’s communistic-socialistic source and by the visual typology of the animals: a filthy unitary costume underlines the aspect of cooptation and “slaving away” that you can find in the novel. Animal specific props such as earmarks tickled the spectator’s fancy in a purposely decent way.
